Matrix states that even on the darkest levels, the lightener with 30 volume delivers up to 9 levels of lift, which is why the system has no 40 volume. Matrix lists 30 volume for balayage, freehand and foil highlights, not for on-scalp work.

How to use

Use the lightener ONLY with BlondeMax 9+ Oil-Powered Developer. Combine the recommended amounts of Matrix BlondeMax 9+ Lightener and 30 volume developer in a non-metallic bowl.

• Balayage or freehand: 1:1
• Highlights in foils: 1:1.5

For on-scalp application, Matrix specifies 20 volume developer at 1:2 or 1:3 instead.

Wear suitable disposable gloves and mix in a well-ventilated area, in a non-metallic bowl, until smooth and creamy. Follow the mixing ratios carefully: Matrix warns that incorrect ratios can damage hair or scalp, including irritation, hair loss or chemical burns. Process up to 50 minutes depending on the desired result, without added heat. Read the safety warnings and instructions on pack before every service and carry out any test the pack directs.
