Matrix BlondeMax 9+ Oil-Powered Lightener 1lb is a professional blue powder lightener for licensed colourists, and Matrix's first oil-powered lightening system. Paired with BlondeMax 9+ Oil-Powered Developer, it delivers up to 9 levels of lift for what Matrix calls its cleanest, brightest and most even blonde results yet, with maximized neutralization for bright blondes.

How to use

The Matrix BlondeMax 9+ Lightener is a system product: use it ONLY with BlondeMax 9+ Oil-Powered Developer in 20 or 30 volume, as a standard cream developer will not perform as expected. Combine the recommended amounts of lightener and developer in a non-metallic bowl.

Mixing ratios (lightener to developer)

• Balayage or freehand: 1:1 with 20 or 30 volume BlondeMax 9+ Oil-Powered Developer
• Highlights in foils: 1:1.5 with 20 or 30 volume developer
• On-scalp: 1:2 or 1:3 with 20 volume developer only

For lighter starting levels (6 and up), Matrix recommends 20 volume developer and checking lift frequently, for example every 10 to 15 minutes.

Wear suitable disposable gloves and mix in a well-ventilated area, in a non-metallic bowl, until smooth and creamy. Follow the mixing ratios carefully: Matrix warns that incorrect ratios can damage hair or scalp, including irritation, hair loss or chemical burns. Process up to 50 minutes depending on the desired result, without added heat. Read the safety warnings and instructions on pack before every service and carry out any test the pack directs.
